Mafia is an elimination game using squirt guns and strategy. Gangs of eight eliminate bosses and henchmen, maneuver Mafia politics, and battle for control the Occidental turf.
The game of Mafia has been played at Occidental since the early 1970s. Students get together and create teams consisting of 1 boss and 7 henchmen. The identities of the participating are kept secret and the week becomes a game of deception, lies and intrigue as rival families try to eliminate each other. The Godfather oversees the game by punishing those who stray outside the rules or simply piss him off. At the end of the week the team with the highest points takes the Grand Prize. Second and third place teams will also receive prizes, though not as extravagant.
The game will take place from the evening of Sunday, February 26th to Friday, March 2nd.
The game has 3 types of players:
THE BOSS: This person is the head of the family and distributes information to the rest of the family. The boss will occasionally receive orders directly from the Godfather, and would do well to follow them precisely.
THE HENCHMAN: These people are the muscle of the team, actively seeking out their opponents and eliminating them. Should something unfortunate happen to the family boss, henchman might be lucky enough to rise up within the family.
THE GODFATHER: My identity remains secret, for I am the godfather. I am responsible for overseeing all gangs. I can alter points awarded or assign missions. Sometimes I provide specific bosses with incentives for accomplishing certain tasks. I do not make kills personally unless extremely provoked. Any kills I do make are not assigned to a particular team. Failure to obey commands regarding gameplay from the Godfather will result in the immediate elimination of your team from the competition.
